What the client wanted to achieve

Due to rapid growth and a very successful period our client decided to convert a considerable part of their building into a vaping bottling plant and storage area, with this type of product a dust free environment is essential, although we had a blank canvas to work with we also had a budget to meet and a minimum life expectancy of 5 years, the brief was to achieve a finish that would brighten up the area, protect the substate and give a working platform for the employees to feel safe and also enjoy aesthetically.

The solution

Once Contact Flooring had understood the requirements and the requirements set out we shotblasted the total area which included all edge preparation, the substrate was in good condition but once blasted there were weak spots exposed that required attention which we attended too.

As the client required a life expectancy that would exceed a typical high build coating we decided to scratch coat the total area at just under 1mm in thickness, this then exposed a few areas that required a bit more attention for repairs, we then installed 2 coats of a solvent free, epoxy based high build coating to all areas, during the first coat we scattered a suitable sized aggregate and then back rolled it to create a safe and slip resistant finish to help meet health and safety standards and a safe working environment.
