New Resin Surface for Car Repair Centre Scotland | 2215 m2
What the client wanted to achieve
This client are a highly regarded car body shop repair specialist located just outside Glasgow, with this project the client required a flat functional floor with aesthetics that would match the rest of the buildings high quality finishes so this was the brief we were given. This project though was slightly more challenging as it was not the case of just supplying an expensive self- levelling system or a pumpable screed with a coating as there was a strict budget to meet.
Other challenges also included removing existing epoxy coatings in various thicknesses in a variety of locations around the building, there was also lots of surface damage from the previous company so addressing this was vital as we were only working with a system that would finish at between 1.5mm & 2mm.
The solution
Once Contact Flooring Group had understood the requirements and the high standard set out by the client we set about putting together a system that would deliver, taking into account that the building was 2215m2 in area and we had a very tight budget to meet we had to come up with a system that would create some thickness to help eliminate the damage and undulations in the substrate. The first thing was to agree with the client that a hardwearing epoxy system was the correct specification with a 2 coat UV stable system as the final finish, with this we came up with an epoxy scratch coat installed by squeegees and back rolled, this was installed at approximately 1mm in thickness, following from this we then installed 2 coats of UV stable, chemical resistant coating in a mid-grey and light grey finish to separate the traffic lanes from the parking bays. Once the total system had been installed we then finished of the parking bays and door entrances with 100mm wide demarcation lines ultimately producing a very crisp and professional finish for this high tech facility.
